This piece is part of a group exhibition entitled ‘Animismes Universels’ curated by Ayoko Mensah, which brought together seven (7) Togolese artists on the theme of Voodoo and Fa, West African science and spirituality practised throughout the world.
I thought of this project over two years ago. My aim was to materialise a whole project inspired by the magic that lies in the phenomena of coincidence.
Since the dawn of time, humanity has always sought to represent the in-visible in order to meditate on it. For me, these three sculptures are an allegory of the universe.
At the opening of the exhibition, I asked visitors to take messages from a container placed next to the sculptures. These messages were written by strangers whom I had asked to express themselves spontaneously by listening to their intuition.
For those who experienced it, the randomly drawn messages appeared to be aimed specifically at the recipients. The experience paid off beyond my expectations.
Proof that magic exists.
